Tip#3- Document your decisions when you authorize any exceptions.

You as a management team cannot take exceptions to the AS9100 requirements, but you can take exceptions to your own procedures. Just make sure that when you do, you document them. E.g., you can’t decide to not identify nonconforming product since section 8.7 of AS9100 requires you to do so. But you could temporarily change how you identify them as long as you document the change, who authorized it, and when. If your procedure states you must identify nonconforming product with red tags and you run out of them, you could decide to temporarily use blue tags. BUT you must document who made what decision when.
