Getting the Most out of your Partnership
with AS9100 University

Tip #1- Use the Plan-Do-Check-Act model to plan out and implement an approach to
achieving world-class compliance in all of your work groups.

PLAN

Work with your management rep and management team to develop a plan to achieve world-class compliance: Compliance.

Determine your approach to building awareness of the key requirement trouble makers across all work groups.  (e.g., which groups will watch which 5 minute videos how often?)

Determine your approach to monitoring for compliance to these key requirement trouble makers across all work groups.  (e.g., which persons will do checks and how will these be documented?)

Determine how you will implement improvements based on what your checks for compliance find.  (e.g., how will you document any changes you make based on what you are finding?)

DO

Carry out the plan to ensure all of your work groups build awareness of the key requirement trouble makers in their areas. This will include how often they are to watch their 5-minute videos in this portal.

CHECK

Carry out the plan to check for compliance to the key requirement trouble makers across all of your work groups.  You can use the word documents from the 5 minute videos as a start.

Once you’ve determined your approach to monitoring for compliance, establish key compliance targets. 

Note: It will likely take some time to work through the monitoring and improvement cycle before you will have an idea of what kind of target you would consider world-class.

ACT

Perform improvements based on what is found during the compliance checks, including the revision of the initial plan as appropriate.

Tip #2- Look at this tips section and the other sections of your Partner Portal regularly

Reviewing this section regularly will ensure that you catch the latest management team tips posted by our president.
  He will be adding tips throughout the year and will date them so that it is easy to identify the latest.

Tip#3- Document your decisions when you authorize any exceptions.

You as a management team cannot take exceptions to the AS9100 requirements, but you can take exceptions to your own procedures. Just make sure that when you do, you document them. E.g., you can’t decide to not identify nonconforming product since section 8.7 of AS9100 requires you to do so. But you could temporarily change how you identify them as long as you document the change, who authorized it, and when. If your procedure states you must identify nonconforming product with red tags and you run out of them, you could decide to temporarily use blue tags. BUT you must document who made what decision when.
